Congrats to 7 runners who did all 4 races last week. In front, Rob Aucoin and Wavey Burke. In back from left Justin Lalanne, Nicole Kennedy, Samantha Hodder, Trish Walsh, and Ron Walsh. This group completed the Johnny Miles 5K on Aug 2nd, Jonathan Skeete 5K on Aug 4th, Action Week 5-miler on Aug 6th, and Ross Ferry 5k/10k on Aug 9th. Good job folks!
It's First-Time Ironman Pool time again. Tim Brooks is heading to Mt. Tremblant for his first go at the big distance this Sunday. Guess Tim's finishing time (hours, minutes, seconds), nearest guess under or over wins. 5$ gets you in the pool, and 100% of the proceeds go to charity of choice of the winner.
Email me your guess by Saturday night to enter. Good luck Tim!! Crustie and Barbarian Dave Saunders recently swam from Margaree Island to the mainland with his sister June and her friend Paulette Cormier. Dave tells me his sister is a crazy endurance junkie, doing things like cycling the trail in a day, and running marathons. Something genetic going on in that family for sure.
The swim is about 4.3Km and took Dave 1hr 26 min. Sounds like he is 1/3 of the way ready for an Ironman!? So an Olympic tri has a 1500m swim. A half-IM is long at 1.9K. An IM swim is really long at 3.8K. So picture swimming over 13Km. That's what Sammey Ayers-Glassey, who many of you will know as one of our Crustacea Coaches the last few years, will be doing as part of The Big Swim on Sunday Aug 17th. Swimmers will start at Cape Tormentine and swim all the way to PEI.
You can donate to Sammey's swim and support Brigadoon Village camp for chronically ill and special needs children. Donate HERE. |
